I heard this for the first time a few years ago, and it has recently made its way back into my attention. It's a great quote by Marianne Williamson, someone that I know nothing about. One thing I do know, she at least had something really good to say once. Forgive my editing, I couldn't resist.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure (or maybe we're afraid of what the power of God in us really looks like...?). It is our (His) light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous (committed, content, humble, serving)? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking (or pretending you don't have a strong belief, a moral standard, a conviction of truth)so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine (His light), as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission (courage)to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others (It is for freedom that Christ set us free).”
----from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson, words in parentheses by Me.
All my life, I've struggled with the age-old question: Who am I? I've wasted a lot of time trying to be all things to all people, and to be whatever whoever I'm with wants me to be. That's not freedom. I'm grateful for the ability to see that now. I pray for the courage to live it, out loud, every day.

Your handwriting hasn't changed a bit! From the many notes we exchanged in middle school, I couldn't forget your penmanship. Very nice!
That was really good. Exactly what I needed to hear today. Hope things are well there.
